Jessica Sarkodie

born: Accra, Ghana
based: Accra, Ghana

bio: Jessica Sarkodie is a photographer of Ghanaian descent. After earning her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and working briefly in NYC, she moved back to Accra. Inspired by the familiar, yet seeming newness of the city she grew up in, she now works on telling the unembellished stories that surround us all - stories that we may or may not know, yet often overlooked. Jessica’s work predominantly comprises travel and documentary narratives, with an insistence on rawness - an attempt to exhibit people and scenes as they really are. She uncovers overlooked stories for inventive brands looking to expose unknown narratives so that their audience is more present, intentional, and reflective.
achievements:  Her work has been featured in African Lens Volume 4, on OkayAfrica and she has completed commission works for Allure Magazine, Bon Appetit Magazine, The Body Shop International, and Vlisco & co.
Jessica is currently obsessed with: hand crafted ceramic tableware.
when nobody is watching: she watches too many interior design videos and browses airbnb, yatzer and welcome beyond for dream home inspiration.
on her last day on earth, she would: have an intimate exquisite dinner with live jazz, bossa nova, highlife music with her loved ones - in a private house overlooking a lake or ocean.
